EKS from EUCHNER already established firmly
in many industrial sectors
Advantages compared to other access control systems
A year ago, the Electronic-Key-System (EKS) for access
control in PCs and control systems was still an innovation
in the product range of EUCHNER GmbH + Co. KG from Leinfelden-Echterdingen
near Stuttgart. Within an incredibly short period of time,
the Swabian company has now succeeded in firmly establishing
the EKS in a wide range of different industrial sectors.
Especially in the automotive industry and its suppliers,
the robust design of the reading device and its transponder
key has proved suitable for industrial purposes and has
become highly esteemed; but even in other applications,
e.g. in systems in the food industry, the EKS and its high
degree of protection, IP 67, has displayed a range of advantages
when compared with other access control systems. “So
there are many reasons why we should supplement the EKS
range with even more, attractive modules,” said Thomas
Raiser, the Product Manager of Identification Systems at

A Special Safety Switch Module is Available
Thanks to the AS-Interface Safety at Work safe bus system
there are now more ways of simplifying safety systems. The
existing EUCHNER SFM-A01 and SFM-A02 safety monitors are
joined by another powerful monitor - the SFM-B02. Additional
logical functions are now available, as well as a special
safety switch module with a guard locking device, similar
to that EUCHNER has already been incorporating for a long
time in the TP and TZ series.

Official prize-giving at the 2003 Hanover Fair

the trade associations' competition for the innovationprize.
With the motto "High tech in work safety", the
trade associations have launched a publicity campaign, the
highlight of which will be the award of its Euro 30,000
innovation prize.

Safety switch TZ with AS-i on the Hanover Trade Fair
Safety switch wiring does not need to be so complex in
the future. Right on time the EUCHNER GmbH + Co. in Leinfelden
near Stuttgart has found the ideal solution. EUCHNER now
offers modern bus technology. Up to now, wiring control
category 3 or 4 safety switches has been a highly complex
business, especially if not only one switch is to be used
but further units as well, for example an Emergency Stop
switch. "We have made our well-known and proven switches
bus-compatible," Dipl.-Ing. Jens Rothenburg, Product
Manager Bus Systems at EUCHNER GmbH + Co., is pleased to
say. In the first step, the TZ safety switch, which has
already been approved for many applications, can be connected
directly to the AS-i bus.

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Technology
has nominated the manual control units from EUCHNER GmbH
+ Co. in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, nearby Stuttgart, for
the Germany Design Award. This adds another feather to the
cap of the Swabian company, which was already honoured last
year with the Baden-Württemberg International Design
Award.
